  36. The WG1129 disk included with this Application Note contains six
  37. updated Windows for Workgroups 3.11 files that are shipped on the
  38. CD-ROM version of Microsoft Windows NT Server 3.5. These updated files
  39. provide the following improvements:
  40.  
  41.  - Support for named pipes over direct host IPX
  42.  
  43.  - Performance enhancements to direct host IPX
  44.  
  45.  - A patch to prevent browse masters from synchronizing and announcing
  46.    simultaneously
  47.  
  48.  - Changes to allow Windows NT remote administrators to work on
  49.    Windows for Workgroups
  50.  
  51.  - Changes to allow browsing of Windows NT workgroups outside a subnet
  52.  
  53.  - Changes to allow Windows NT 3.5 servers to screen out older Windows
  54.    for Workgroups clients trying to connect through direct host IPX
  55.  
  56. To install the updated files
  57. ----------------------------

  59. 1. If you received a disk with this Application Note, insert the disk
  60.    in the appropriate floppy disk drive.
  61.  
  62.    If you downloaded this Application Note from an online service,
  63.    skip to step 2. This procedure assumes that you have already
  64.    downloaded and extracted the compressed file.
  65.  
  66. 2. At the MS-DOS command prompt, type the following and press ENTER
  67.  
  68.       copy <source>:\net.exe <location>
  69.    
  70.    where <source> is either the letter of your floppy disk drive or
  71.    the directory containing the file you downloaded from online
  72.    services, and <location> is the path to your Windows directory. For
  73.    example, if you are installing from a floppy disk that you inserted
  74.    in drive A, and C:\WINDOWS is the path to your Windows directory:
  75.  
  76.       copy a:\net.exe c:\windows
  77.    
  78.    Or, for example, if you downloaded the WG1129.EXE file from online
  79.    services to C:\DOWNLOAD and C:WINDOWS is the path to your Windows
  80.    directory:

  82.       copy c:\download\net.exe c:\windows
  83.  
  84. 3. Copy the remaining five files to the Windows SYSTEM subdirectory
  85.    one at a time. For example, type the following commands and press
  86.    ENTER after each one:

  88.       copy a:\ndis.386 c:\windows\system
  89.       copy a:\netapi.dll c:\windows\system
  90.       copy a:\nwnblink.386 c:\windows\system
  91.       copy a:\vnetsetup.386 c:\windows\system
  92.       copy a:\vredir.386 c:\windows\system
